Frequently Asked Questions

A microschool is an innovative educational model featuring small, multi-age groups (typically 8-15 students) with personalized, project-based learning. Unlike traditional schools with 25-30 students per classroom, microschools provide individualized attention, mastery-based progression, and flexible learning environments. At Legacy Learning Loft, we maintain 8-12 students maximum, ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive.

We serve students in grades 3rd-8th. Our program is designed for elementary and middle school learners who benefit from personalized instruction and project-based learning approaches.

Our full-time microschool program tuition is $13,700 annually, with flexible payment plans available. We also offer Saturday Project-Based Learning Academy at $600/month (or à la carte pricing), and individual tutoring at $65/hour.

This represents significant savings compared to traditional Atlanta private schools ($24,000-$36,000+) while providing smaller class sizes and more personalized attention.

The TRUE cost? It’s measured in the opportunities lost if your child doesn’t have the competitive advantage in the race to secure limited educational space in the future.

Yes, absolutely. Our curriculum is fully aligned with Georgia Standards of Excellence, including the new 2025-26 ELA standards. We prepare students for Georgia Milestones assessments while using engaging, project-based methods that build genuine mastery rather than just test-taking skills.

ELA stands for English Language Arts—the integrated study of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language skills. In Georgia schools, ELA encompasses everything from phonics and reading comprehension to essay writing and literary analysis.

Georgia recently adopted brand-new ELA standards for 2025-26 that emphasize Science of Reading principles and evidence-based literacy instruction. These standards are crucial because strong ELA skills are the foundation for success in all subjects.

Students can’t excel in math, science, or social studies if they can’t read complex texts or express their thinking clearly. With only 36% of Georgia third-graders reading at grade level, specialized ELA support is more critical than ever.

Legacy Learning Loft specializes in the new Georgia ELA standards, helping students build genuine literacy competence that lasts a lifetime.

Georgia Milestones preparation is integrated naturally into our curriculum through mastery-based learning and strong foundational skills. Dr. Ellis specializes in Georgia Milestones success strategies, and we offer dedicated test prep support during tutoring hours.

We focus on building true literacy and numeracy competence that translates to both test success and real-world application—not just teaching to the test.

Yes! Legacy Learning Loft proudly accepts the Georgia Promise Scholarship, making our microschool program accessible to more families. Contact us to discuss how this scholarship can offset tuition costs.

Georgia implemented brand-new English Language Arts standards for the 2025-26 school year, emphasizing Science of Reading principles, foundational literacy skills, and evidence-based instruction.

Legacy Learning Loft is fully updated on these standards and incorporates them into our curriculum. Dr. Ellis specializes in these new requirements, ensuring your child succeeds under Georgia’s evolving education framework.

Yes! Our Saturday Project-Based Learning Academy (10 AM-1 PM) is open to all students, whether they attend Legacy full-time, traditional schools, or homeschool.

It’s a perfect way to enrich your child’s education or “test drive” our approach before committing to full-time enrollment. Many of our full-time families started with part-time sessions or tutoring.

We’re located in West Midtown Atlanta, easily accessible from Buckhead, Midtown, Virginia-Highland, North Decatur, Morningside, and throughout Metro Atlanta.

For privacy and security, we provide our exact address when you schedule a private tour. Our intimate, boutique learning environment is thoughtfully designed to maximize student engagement and comfort.

Legacy Learning Loft combines the personalized attention of tutoring with the comprehensive curriculum and community of a full school program.

Unlike drop-in tutoring centers with rotating staff, students work with Dr. Ellis consistently, building relationships and trust. Unlike learning pods that simply replicate online school at home, we provide a complete project-based curriculum designed specifically for how children learn best.

And unlike traditional private schools, we maintain tiny class sizes (8-12 students) at a fraction of the cost.

Legacy is ideal for students who:

  • Thrive with personalized attention and struggle in large classrooms
  • Are curious learners who ask “why” and want deeper understanding
  • Need a stronger foundation in reading, writing, or math
  • Are bored or unchallenged in traditional settings
  • Learn differently and need flexible, responsive instruction
  • Would benefit from a nurturing community where they’re truly known

The best way to know? Schedule a private tour. You’ll meet Dr. Ellis, see our learning environment, and discuss your child’s specific needs to determine fit.

Yes, we offer flexible payment plans to make exceptional education more accessible. Contact us to discuss options that work for your family’s budget.

We believe cost shouldn’t be a barrier to transformative education.

Yes! Under the Dexter Mosley Act, students in grades 6-12 enrolled at Legacy Learning Loft can participate in extracurricular and interscholastic activities at their zoned public school system. Students are required to take one class at the public school to be an active participant. See the Georgia Department of Education  for complete details.
